Year 2 Ambassadors
My name is Shannon Nicol and I am a Canadian student from Alliston Ontario Canada. I am in the post graduate Human Resources Management program at Georgian College, Barrie Campus. Prior to Georgian College, I attended Carleton University in Ottawa Ontario Canada and completed my undergrad in Criminology with a concentration in Law. I am extremely excited to have been chosen as one of the student ambassadors for the second year of the social innovation project and I’m excited to share my experiences with all of you! This is my first big travel experience so stay tuned for my highs and lows and follow me through amazing journey on this cultural exchange. I’m looking forward to learning about a new culture, networking and sharing Canadian culture with those I meet along the way
Hi, everyone, I am Doris, a second year Business Marketing student at Georgian College, challenge seeker, proud Chinese and culture advocate. I have been studying in Canada for one year and a half.
Working as an International ambassador at the International Centre allowed me to work with students from all over the world, giving me the chance to help them based on my past experiences, and at the same time learn from them.
My program contains two Co-op terms. I did my first Co-op in a marketing company last summer. Now I am doing my second Co-op in the International Centre working on a social innovation and cultural exchange project. In this project my partner Shannon and I will spend six weeks in China to visit different cities and schools for culture exchange.
Year 1 Ambassadors
Hi there, I’m Paulo Cardoso.
I am from Brazil, and I have been in Canada since August 2015. I am currently taking Business Marketing at Georgian College, Barrie Campus.
I am an International Student Ambassador with the International Center and the Vice President of Student Engagement & Communications with the Georgian College Student Association (GCSA Barrie). As a student leader, I am very actively involved on the student council executive and have been taking the lead on several events aimed at contributing to a positive student experience with a particular emphasis on an inclusive environment for our international students.
In all of the work and activities I do, I always worked with passion, integrity and an unwavering commitment to Georgian College students and Barrie community. I am excited about this Co-op opportunity because I firmly believe that I will be able to learn a lot about the East Asian Culture and teach them about my Brazilian Culture and my experience as an International Student in Canada.
My name is Melissa Pauli from Kitchener, Ontario Canada. I am in the Travel & Tourism program at Georgian College, Barrie Campus.
During my full-time studies, I work part time as a Customer Service representative at the Georgian College Athletic Center. I also work as an Orientation leader and have a volunteer position as a Peer Mentor. Peer mentoring helps many students organize their schedules, become familiar with the campus amenities, and ultimately helps students become more comfortable and socially connected while at Georgian College.I have many personal and professional business goals outside of my College life and incorporate a lot of personal development in my day to day life. I played on the Georgian College varsity soccer team as a defender! I am very excited to be a Student Ambassador for this Social Innovation & Cultural Exchange Project traveling East Asia this summer because it is giving me the skills that I need to be a great leader. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn about the East Asian culture and share my Canadian background with so many students in the cities we are visiting.
